Nim's Island | 2008

Nim (Abigail Breslin) had lost his mother when a whale dragged the mother Nim into the seabed. Nim's mother is a marine biologist who is investigating the whale's life when a ship called The Buccaneer sail too close to whales and then panicked and dragged the mother Nim into the seabed.
Jack (Gerard Butler), Nim's father, who felt lost then asked Nim to sail around the world to find the mother Nim. Unfortunately they both actually stranded on an uninhabited island. They both then decided to stay on the island forever.
Jack is also a marine biologist and then began researching the life of biota in the vicinity of the island. Jack even had time to research results published in the magazine National Geographic. For years Jack and Nim lives alone on the island. The only relationship with the outside world is a ship porters who often stop by and bring them some of their consumer goods.
From this ship then got a novel titled Nim My Arabian Adventure works of renowned writer Alexandra Rover (Jodie Foster). In his novels Alexandra always tells about the exciting adventures of his own when Alexandra was a very closed. He did not even get out of the apartment where he lived.
One time he plans to invite Nim sail to investigate life at sea biota but Nim objected. Jack then left alone and promised to return in 2 days. Unfortunately a storm and then inhibit the return of Jack.
At the same time, Alexandra who was having difficulty continuing his novels found an article about Jack who lives in a remote island. Alexandra then contact Jack via email to find inspiration for his novel.
Nim who lives alone on the island waiting for his father came home and then read the email Alexandra and establishing relationships with writers such idol. Feeling worried about the safety of her father, Nim and Alexandra ask for help to rescue his father. Nim thinks that Alexandra was a hero like the characters he describes in his novel.
