Two groups of the most powerful ninja in his era were forced to kill each other because of orders from the Shogun's candidate in the region. Concerns that the two groups can be exploited by the enemy to attack the power of the Shogun, finally determined the existence of an open battle between the two Clans. Each group is required to prepare five most tough ninja warrior, and should be left to kill each other until only one person who is entitled to ninja scroll, namely the right of life for all citizens clan winner, and the destruction of all clan members who lose.
The incident happened when the leadership the two groups was found murdered in the woods after each announce 5 ninja choice. The group led by Kouga Gen-no-Suke (Jo Odagiri), a ninja who is known as samurai skills and speed, while the group led by Iga Oboro (Yukie Nakama), a beautiful girl who has a deadly tricks of his eyes.
Problems arise because the real Gen-no-Suke and Oboro are two lovers who loved each other. They undergo their illicit love affair in secret, and now, as the leader of each group of ninja, they have to kill each other. Kouga ninja fighting spirit to annihilate their rivals for centuries it has been so great, but Gen-no-Suke has a different way of thinking.
He chose to come to the Shogun's palace and find out the truth behind the murder of their leader, than have to confront directly with groups of Iga. Along the way, the confrontation between the two Clans can not be avoided anymore. They finally fixed prosecuted for killing each other in order to survive, including the Gen-no-Suke and Oboro who also must accept the fact that their love will never be united in the middle of the Kouga and Iga feud.
